Louisiana Construction Education Foundation Grants $15,000 to HOPE Ministries to Support Work Readiness Program

The Louisiana Construction Education Foundation (LCEF) has awarded a $15,000 grant to HOPE Ministries to aid The Way to Work program, which prepared individuals facing barriers to employment for sustainable careers in the construction industry. Through structured workforce readiness training, safety awareness, and employer-connected job placement, participants gain the skills required for entry-level construction and skilled trade positions.
"Our industry needs qualified entry-level candidates to build and sustain Louisiana's workforce," said Connie Fabre, President and CEO of the Louisiana Construction Education Foundation. “Through the Way to Work Program's training and workshops, participants gain hands-on skills, financial literacy, and other life skills needed for self-sufficiency while connecting with employers searching for qualified candidates."
In 2018, Hope Ministries introduced The Way to Work, a client-centered program that provides participants with support to achieve and maintain employment, housing, financial, and family stability. HOPE’s career coaches work with participants to identify instability issues, then formulate a plan to overcome barriers to employment.
The program serves 752 participants annually, helping participants find employment and supporting employers throughout Louisiana. The Way to Work provides access to industry-based certifications and job opportunities through career exploration and certification initiatives.
"Through partnering with LCEF, we will be able to expand opportunities for individuals looking for pathways to a stable career," said David Tidwell, President and CEO of HOPE Ministries. "With this support, we can make a difference in jumpstarting the careers of those who otherwise might not have had access to such opportunities. Together, we can strengthen the construction workforce and create lasting opportunities for industry in Louisiana."
LCEF funding will support construction-focused workforce readiness and participant preparation, strengthen program outcomes and position the program for continued investment.
